Abstract
One of the most basic skills that a system administrator must be able to call upon is that of problem diagnosis and resolution - troubleshooting. It doesn't matter what else you do; if the system is broken, your priority is to fix it.
This tutorial looks at a general process for troubleshooting, and specific techniques that will assist you get to the root problem, and identify candidate solutions with confidence.
